Re: Apply HYSPLIT to very small area (100x100 m^2)

You can specify a very high resolution concentration grid in HYSPLIT. https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S313.htm However please see this discussion: https://hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov/viewtopic.php?t=221 Limitations include a minimum 1 minute time step and the resolution of the meteorologica...

Re: Initializing runs with pressure levels instead of altitude levels

There is no option for this.
You will have to do the conversion yourself.

Re: Can api2arl be used alone?

api2arl requires some libraries from the HYSPLIT distribution.
Are you compiling the distribution on the linux machine yourself? Please give more details on what you are doing.
You can certainly convert the data on a linux machine and then use it with HYSPLIT run on a windows machine.

Re: NUMPAR v emission rate

The emission rate determines how much mass is released while numpar determines how many computational particles are released. For example suppose you define an emission rate of 1000 (kg/hour) and you release 1000 computational particles in an hour. Then each computational particle has a mass of 100(...

Re: WindNinja

One of the existing conversion utilities could probably be modified to convert WindNinja output to an ARL file which could be used by HYSPLIT.

Re: running multiple trajectories in time

Are you following the instructions here: https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/Tutorial/html/traj_time.html Please copy the contents of SETUP.CFG and CONTROL files which the GUI generates in your post so we can see them. These files should be found in your working directory and are the inputs into HY...

Re: How to get meteorology output along the trajectory on LINUX

By default HYSPLIT looks for a CONTROL and SETUP.CFG file. CONTROL file https://www.ready.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S262.htm and options for the namelist SETUP.CFG file (note that options that pertain to trajectory runs are noted). https://www.ready.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S410.htm If you want t...

Re: Extract particle path (start/stop) information

If you need concentration files, then for most applications it is best to just setup your HYSPLIT run to produce the concentration files you need rather than to produce particle position files and convert them. There is a command line utility called par2conc which will convert pardump (particle posi...
