Re: ERA5 dataset

Try using type='an' rather than '4v'

Please also see python code for downloading ERA5 data that can
be used in the converter at

Re: ERA5 dataset

The first thing to do would be to make sure that latitudeOfFirstGridPointInDegrees is contained in your grib file. Try using the command line utility grib_dump that comes with eccodes. https://confluence.ecmwf.int/display/ECC/grib_dump PATH/grib_dump -D DATA.GRIB will output all the key names in the...

The program should also create a CMESSAGE file in your working directory.
Can you see what it says?

Re: Conversion of Own Meteorological Data for Hysplit Use

We do not support conversion of excel files into ARL format. You can either use the stn2arl utility described in the tutorial https://www.ready.noaa.gov/documents/Tutorial/html/meteo_enter.html or you can write your own conversion utility. You can find more information about the format of the meteor...

The following threads explain how to find example batch (for windows) and bash (for linux) scripts. You will probably need to learn a little about scripting to modify them for your purposes. https://hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1529&p=4414&hilit=batch+scripts#p4414 https://hysplitbbs....

Re: merging cdump files

Can you just run 24 hours instead of 35 so you have no time overlap on the files you are appending? That may be the simplest way to solve the problem. by default concrop will resize your grid. To make sure it is not doing this you need to use the -b option with all zeros. -b0:0:0:0 Also, as suggeste...

Re: GDAS 1 Degree vs 0.5 Degree

The ARL files can be concatenated.
On linux

cat file2.ARL > file1.ARL

Re: trajectories

Yes, if you are using ichem=5 then you will have some problems keeping track
of the computational particles because some will be removed during deposition.
I any solution would involve modifying the code.

Re: Calculate trajectories of many sources

Yes! you can script your HYSPLIT runs.
Please go through the tutorial. This part explains how you can access example scripts.
https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/Tu ... batch.html

You should be able to find an example script that you can modify for your purposes.

Please see the answers to the previous questions. https://hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov/viewtopic.php?p=4410#p4410 https://hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1527&p=4412#p4412 I'm curious as to what people are intending to do with the path of the individual computational particles in the dispers...
