Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters

A few other thoughts- In the emitimes file you sent, you are using a stack height of 0. You probably want to use the correct stack height. Also, think about how big an effect specifying the area of the stack exactly will have. You have the area of your stack as only 50m^2. Think of this in compariso...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters

When you use an area emission, the Gaussian or top-hot puff is initialized with a width that will cover that area.
This will occur for horizontal puff / vertical particle mode.
Converting to particles later in the simulation will not affect how the puff is initialized.

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters

I suggest you use initd=3 or 4 (horizontal puff and vertical particle) And increase your maximum particle number (maxpar) to at least 100000 (you currently have 10000). The warning is generated when puff splitting would generate more puffs than the maximum allowed (set by maxpar). For some runs, con...

Re: trajectory runs get stuck for ERA-interim meteo files

You need to make sure the times for the 2D fields match those of your pressure fields. For pressure fields (if you are downloading from the web) you can get analysis fields every 6 hours (00,06,12,18) For the 2D analysis fields use a time of 00/06/12/18 and step of 0. For the 2D forecast fields use ...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters

I don't see your MESSAGE file. Please try to attach again. The first message "puff splitting turned off.. expand MAXPAR or increase merge parameters in CFG namelist file" is not uncommon when running with puffs, particularly if you are trying to do a longer run. This message simply means that puffs ...

Re: trajectory runs get stuck for ERA-interim meteo files

If you are retrieving ERA-INTERIM through the website, then there is an option to select a date interval at the top of the site. http://apps.ecmwf.int/datasets/data/interim-full-daily/levtype=sfc/ I would recommend that you retrieve no more than a week at a time. This will keep your grib files from ...

Re: caveat on converts ERA to ARL format

Are you converting a whole month of of ecmwf data at once? The monthly datasets are probably too large. You will need to break them down into smaller chunks. Please keep your grib files under 2GB. See the following thread: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=202&p=2779#p2779 You can use the profile program (either...

Re: Convert IFS netCDF data to arl

You can try using ecmwf2arl instead of the generic grib2arl. The ecmwf2arl was created to work with ERA-INTERIM data and you will
have to run it from the command line. Also please include output from the MESSAGE file that is written to your working directory when you get an error.

Re: Archived Meteorological Data Extract

Please see screenshot from earlier in the thread. Only you must use . for decimals not ,
You must put in lower left coordinate and upper right coordinate which will define a box in which met data will be extracted.
