Using the PARDUMP and par2conc to optimize the output concentration grid
I am just trying to establish whether this idea is sensible. I am mainly interested in this for ash fall applications, so if the PARDUMP file doesn't hold information on the particles that have reached the ground then that kills the idea for me. Anyway the idea is that the best grid (boundaries and ...

Re: Vertical distribution for volcanic ash simlulation
Just to confirm, I believe this approach of using the EMITIMES file will result in a step-wise vertical distribution function, as opposed to a piecewise linear function between emission rates that would be the case is you specified source specific rates in the CONTROL file. (?)

Vertical distribution for volcanic ash simlulation
Hi there, We want to apply the Suzuki vertical distribution to our eruption source, with a fairly detailed grain size distribution. We implement the size distribution by the emiission rate parameter in the pollutant specification for each particle size. In the User guide I can see that you can have ...

Re: conc2cdf bug
Thanks Ariel,
the array dimensions are:
dimensions:
longitude = 361 ;
latitude = 182 ;
levels = 9 ;
time = 12 ;
I compiled hysplit against netcdf library version 3.6.1 (64 bit). I might try a newer version.
Cheers,
Cory.

scaling issue with ECMWF 0.125 degree data
Hi there, when using grib2arl on ECMWF 0.125 degree data with either -g3 or -g4 options, there appears to be a scaling problem: SHGT T02M WWND features are displaced with respect to the proper terrain location. My guess is that grib2arl is having trouble interpretting the last decimal place in the r...

conc2cdf bug
Hi there, I am using Hysplit (from the subversion repository) on a linux machine. When I run hysplit with 5 pollutants conc2cdf works fine, but when I use 6 pollutants, the concentration array for the final pollutant in the netcdf file is full of 9e36. This looks to me like a memory allocation probl...
