Re: 13.5 Output

I figured it out. I forgot to rename the 13.4.2 file srm.bin instead of the default name. Thank you!

Solutions for Section 13.5

I checked the results folder for the tutorial and it is missing results for Section 13.5 (but has 13.4 and 13.6). Could you please update that folder with the results for that section?

13.5 Output

We were having trouble in the tutorial to finish the run for 13.5. I was able to run it (faster workstation) but am getting the error "Concentration file not properly configured". What might be happening here? I have copied the full error message here. Concentration file not properly configured for ...

Re: Number of reactions in one run of HYSPLIT

25, as we will be using the surrogate species from HEMCO/CEDS/EDGAR. They are all very similar to each other!

Number of reactions in one run of HYSPLIT

Is the constraint of 7 species a limitation of the GUI? And using the scripts would allow adding more species? Is there an upper limit on how many linear reactions that can be added in HYSPLIT in one run?

Non-linearities in reaction rates

We discussed in the workshop how HYSPLIT only allows linear conversions from reactions. Could we run a separate box model (for the reactions), find an equivalent linear rate of conversion (including for non-linear systems) and then put that value in HYSPLIT? Is that a commonly accepted approach to a...

Meaning of the dramatically varying PBLH value

We looked at the PBLH value. The PBLH value given at the top in each profile (corresponding to a given profile time) is changing dramatically (20m, 1222 m, 0m, back to 20 m). What is happening here? PBLH cannot possibly vary that dramatically.

Velocity deformation for LRT

I get why velocity deformation is not imp for short distances. Why is velocity deformation for LRT a good measure for horizontal turbulence? I would have thought the large (compounding) uncertainties in velocity farther away would have lured us to use a standard model for large distances (and preven...
