Grid concentration calculation

How does HYPLIT compute concentrations on the output grid?
Does it use some "interpolation kernel" to attribute the particle mass to the grid cells?

Particle life after reaching zero mass

What happens to a particle that is reduced to zero mass due to deposition or other processes?
Is it removed or does it continue to travel even if it does not give any contribution to concentrations?

Re: Avoid problems with particles reaching the stratosphere

Thank you.
My naive idea was that particle reaching the top of the model would "die" just like particles reaching the horizontal ends of meteorological data.
Is there an option to do so?

Avoid problems with particles reaching the stratosphere

Roland recommended to fix the timestep in order to avoid big reductions of it due to particles moving under faster winds in the stratosphere.
Would it be a good option to reduce the "top of the model" option in the setup to avoid this problem?
