Re: soil-dust density (K) and emission area (A) in alternate emission algorithm

But, Ariel, wouldn't that imply that the full area of each grid cell is assumed to emit dust? Isn't it that only a fraction of the area of each grid cell is assumed to emit dust? I've read in Draxler et al. (2010), in section 2.4, that that fraction of the grid cell is calculated based on Ginoux et ...

Control file - revised algorithm - multiple years

I would like to perform a dust simulation that spans multiple months using the revised algorithm. My doubt is: how do I specify the starting locations in the CONTROL file? Let's say I have 20 starting locations and I want to run for 12 months. Since the 4th and 5th columns (U*t and AK) of each of th...

Modify the AOD value used to calculate U*t

Hello, I would like to use the variable-threshold method (revised algorithm) for dust emissions. After reading Draxler et al. (2010) I believe that I should use a different value of AOD than the one described on that paper (AOD = 0.75) to calculate the wind friction velocity threshold. What is the v...

dry vs. wet deposition quantification

I run concentration simulations and I do particle deposition. I turn on both dry and wet deposition, and I usually run 24-hour simulations with point-source emissions with a fixed emission rate. Once simulations are over I usually plot deposition rate fields. However, I would like to quantify how mu...
