wrfout conversion with arw2arl.exe; Error:NetCDF unknown file format

Hello,

I am using arw2arl.exe to convert a wrfout file to arl. Unfortunately I get the error message " Error NetCDF: unknown file format" when I run the arw2arl executable. Gfortran and netcdf are already installed. Should anything be changed with the wrfout file?
