Re: Multiple Time Starts

You can run the HYSPLIT utility program vmixing to obtain PBLH. See:

Re: Kz diffusivity

Hi, We have worked with this group at NIST to incorporate new beta turbulence parameterizations that closely follows what is done in WRF, but we have yet to fully evaluate these options. Based on your results, I suggest running HYSPLIT with the STILT dispersion scheme (namelist option idsp=2). This ...

Re: Long simulation time. Wrong configurations?

Puffs will continue to be simulated with HYSPLIT if it is outside of the concentration domain, but within the meteorological domain in case the puff is re-circulated back into the concentration domain. If you would like HYSPLIT to not simulate the transport of this puff after it is transported outsi...

Re: arw2arl: Output time interval not constant

You need to make sure WRF is output at a constant interval. You need to edit your WRF namelist.input file to ensure that your output time step is divisible by your model time step. If you are using the adaptive time step, you need to ensure that the output is being written out at the desired output ...

Re: Parallel mode on linux

Refer to the file README_external_libraries.txt in the top directory of your pre-compiled version of HYSPLIT. Before running a pre-compiled executable, check to make sure all required libraries are properly linked to the executable. For hycm_std, type: ldd hycm_std If any library is not found, you w...

Re: Error 23 when spanning 31 Dec 0039 to 01 Jan 0040

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. HYSPLIT uses a two digit year and assumes dates between 1940-2039. We will work on a fix to this issue. In the meantime, you can trick HYSPLIT in simulating your time period by changing the dates in your ARL files using the edit_head utility program found i...

Please try downloading HYSPLIT again. This file should be in the working directory.

Re: Error Msg: tfreq.bin file to ascii using Conc > Utilities

Yes. Go to the concentration > setup run > pollutant, deposition, grids setup > grid menu to setup your concentration grid. Note that the trajectory > display > frequency menu has a few different options for setting the grid resolution for creating the tfreq.bin file.

Re: meteorology outputs along the trajectory

No. Pressure, potential temperature, ambient temperature, precipitation, mixing depth, relative humidity, specific humidity, water vapor mix ratio, solar radiation, and terrain height are the only variables available for output in a HYSPLIT trajectory run at this time.
