Re: 'cdump' is empty
Sorry for the delay! I don't always get notifications when admins respond to my posts. Attached is my MESSAGE file.

Re: 'cdump' is empty
I should add that I'm generating these files with an R wrapper that I have written a few years ago. This method has been successful in the past but recent "tweaks" I have made are putting me in this situation...

'cdump' is empty
I'm using the hycs_std.exe file with CONTROL, EMITIMES, CONC.CFG, SETUP.CFG, and ASCDATA.CFG in the same working directory as the exe file. hycs_std.exe runs and reaches "100% complete" but the output file (TEST-20120101-0101) is always empty (144B). Using the con2asc.exe file afterwards returns not...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters
Excellent! My apologies for a slow response. It's the end of a semester :-) In regards to your additional questions: 1. How big is your concentration grid? It could be that some of the puffs/particles are moving off the concentration grid (either horizontally or vertically). I receive no warnings ab...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters
In regards to the comparison, I'm essentially gridding the cdump files and adding the average concentrations in each grid cell. (The grids cells are uniform in size.) I'm using this as an analog for mass. If I only change a single parameter (release height, release temp, etc.), I can use the same me...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters
First off, thanks again for your previous help! I have a few more directed questions. I am conducting a sensitivity analysis by comparing two different scenarios: A 24-hour dispersion from a source of small area (Area is included in EMITIMES file) The same source modeled as a point source (Area = 0m...

Re: With or Without EMITIMES?
If there are no values for release height, release area, etc. in the CONTROL file, HYSPLIT will still run. In this case, does it use 0m AGL for the release height and 0m^2 for the release area? Does it assign a heat value (in Watts) to the source even when a value is NOT included in the EMITIMES or ...

With or Without EMITIMES?
If the EMITIMES file allows multiple release points as well as respective heights, release areas, and temperatures, what does the model assume these parameters are WITHOUT an EMITIMES file? I'm assuming they default to zero. This this correct?

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters
One other (hopefully) quick question... If I use Gh-Pv to 3D particle (initd = 130) and set the conversion time to 0 hours (conage = 0), will a puff of my desired width in the EMITIMES file still be initialized but immediately converted to particles? Or will a value of conage = 0 cause HYSPLIT to ru...

Re: Gaussian/Top Hat model parameters
Your insights are very helpful! In regards to the 0m stack height and the inclusion of stack area, something that I am interested in is how much these values can affect the output results after they have been propagated over a 24hr period. I'm incrementing these values for a handful of different pow...
