Re: Concentration / Utilities / Convert to ASCII not outputting vertical heights
If you run with multiple levels defined in your concentration grid then the con2asc output will have multiple columns. It looks like you currently have one particle species defined (TEST) and the 05000 indicates that is concentration from ground to 5000m. If you defined another level (maybe 6000m) t...

Re: feeding emisions from spatial and temporal variaying sources
You should use ninit=2 because you don’t want to remove particles that were added previously. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Example. You want to emit 100 g of mass over 1 hour at a constant rate. Set the model time step to 5 minutes (DELT=5...

Re: Particle Shape Factor
You may find this technical report by Richard Dare useful. It explains the calculation of the terminal fall velocity of the particles in detail. https://cawcr.gov.au/technical-reports/CTR_079.pdf Here is a relevant section of the HYSPLIT user manual. You may also wish to consult the reference here. ...

Can you attach the MESSAGE file from the HYSPLIT run?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Converting output of dispersion model into vertical profile of chemical concentration at different heights
Do the outputs from the dispersion model contain details of the concentrations at different heights, or just one value for the averaged concentration up to a certain height? As I understand from looking at the plots produced by the model it should be the latter, but the former is what I require, th...

Description of the pardump/parinit file is here.
https://www.ready.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S442.htm
There is python code with a class that can read/write pardump files here in pardump.py.

Which reanalysis are you looking for? It may be under "archive". Otherwise you can download the files from our ftp server. https://www.ready.noaa.gov/READYmetdata.php You can find some instructions here. https://hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1526&p=4402&hilit=winscp#p4402 https://hysp...

Re: Vertical Mass Distribution
I'm not sure I understand the question. HYSPLIT will create/emit new computational particles at every time step during the emission time period. When the emission routine is called at each time step, it distributes the new particles over the specified area by adding a randomly chosen displacement to...

You may be running into terrain with the 3km HRRR at the 100m height
